About Meteor Games
Meteor Games boasts an experienced team with a proven track record creating and sustaining major online brands.
Quality is a top priority. Building polished brands that create sticky experiences with low churn is paramount.
Prior to launching Meteor Games, Adam and Donna Powell created and co-founded Neopets in 1999. The first web-based multi-player game of its kind, Neopets is recognized as the online phenomenon that helped start the social networking and web-based gaming craze. Neopets was sold to MTV Networks, a division of Viacom, in 2005 for $160 million and remains one of the largest and most popular destinations for kids and teens on the Internet. Adam and Donna guided Neopets from launch through its unprecedented growth, and today the franchise reaches 45 million users worldwide in 11 languages.
Adam Powell - CEO & Creative Director
Adam Powell is an internationally renowned game developer with a proven track record of developing and
building successful web-based communities and online games. Adam's first game creation was Dark
Heart, a
popular MUD (Multi-User Dungeon) released in 1996 and based on the DIKU MUD code that evolved into today's biggest MMORPGs.
Adam's innovative concepts and cutting-edge business practices heavily influenced an entirely new, multi-billion dollar industry based around virtual communities, social networking and casual gaming.
Donna Powell - President & COO
As President and COO, Powell manages the daily operations, marketing execution
and overall business strategy for Meteor Games.
Donna Powell (nee Williams) was directly responsible for fostering and shepherding the Neopets community and brand for nearly a decade. An exceptional designer and project manager, Donna has been one of the key pioneers in the design, development, promotion and expansion of web-based Internet gaming and social communities. Her experience in design and marketing was primarily responsible for Neopets' amazing expansion to the massive audience it holds today. Donna's role with Neopets evolved to include game production and product promotions, where her innovations extended the Neopets brand into new, previously untapped offline markets, including console games, soft toys, fast-food promotions and collectable card games. |
